White Pine Stampede: A Michigan Cup Race

 Begun in 1977 the White Pine Stampede has provided a day of cross skiing enjoyment for both the competitive and recreational skier alike.  The trail traverses the hills and valleys of central Antrim County beginning at the Mancelona High School and finishing at Shanty Creek Resort.  Originally planned as a 50 kilometer race, the event now includes a 40 kilometer race, a 20 kilometer race, and a 10 kilometer non-competitive tour.

Each entrant is provided a tee shirt when registering and a commerative medal upon completion of their chosen distance.  Five dollars of each entry fee is donated to the Children's Hospital of Michigan Foundation with over $91,000.00 having been donate to date.

The race is an opportunity to compete against the field, others in your gender and age category or merely enjoy a day of skiing with your friends and family.

Following the race enjoy snacks and beverages preceeding the award ceremony, at Shanty Creek, sponsored by Shorts Brewing Company.
