« Course Elevation Graph

The graph shown above presents the overall elevation changes, every 5k, over the length of the Stampede course. Read the graph from left to right. Notice that the start is the high point, approximately 580 feet higher than the low point reached at the 23k mark. 10k and 20k skiers will proceed essentially 'down-terrain' to reach their finish lines.
50k skiers note that beginning at the 23k point your route will be essentially 'up-terrain' all the way to the finish. Keep in mind there are plenty of ups and downs not shown here, in between each 5k mark. None of our hills are as steep, up or down, as the graph may imply.
The Stampede course conforms in large measure to the old standard of "1/3 up, 1/3 down and 1/3 flat."
